Great organic tea is hard to find.
The average tea plant takes seven to ten years to mature, and organic certification requires three years of organic growing methods. As a result, many organic tea gardens of the world convert old tea bushes to organic tea production, as opposed to planting fresh, new tea bushes grown organically, and waiting seven years for them to mature.
That process makes it incredibly difficult to find good organic tea. The region of Assam, India, has hundreds of gardens, with only around five growing organic tea - and not all of it is good organic tea.
In our efforts to provide great organic tea, two leaves and a bud works tirelessly. We actively seek out the gardens committed to growing new organic tea bushes. It's not easy, but our goal is to provide organic tea that tastes like nothing you've ever had before. The result of our efforts are rich, complex black teas like Assam or Earl Grey that are certified organic with a taste you won't believe.
