Now that’s good Chamomile
- An e-play in one act – Scene: two leaves and a bud tea co. office, Basalt; Wednesday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m. Cast: Richard, two leaves and a bud founder Naomi, two leaves and a bud communications manager ### Richard <appearing in Naomi’s office suddenly>: Tell me something. Naomi <turning around>: What? Richard <holding an open but empty packet of Chamomile under Naomi’s nose>: Do you smell honey? Naomi <sniffing>: Yeah. Richard <walking away>: Okay. Naomi <watching Richard walk away>: What did you need me to tell you? Richard <pouring hot water over his Chamomile in the kitchen>: Nothing. Naomi: Huh? Richard: It smells like honey, and apples. Finally, a tea tag solution
So you’ve just torn open the wrapper to a fresh sachet of your favorite two leaves and a bud tea, and plunked that sachet in the bottom of a big mug while waiting for your water to boil. It boils. You reach for the kettle, move your over-eager face back from the mug so the steam doesn’t hit you right in the eyes, and start pouring. [Read: Drink tea and feel smug.] But, let’s get serious for a minute — you can hardly switch on the evening news lately without hearing about the encroaching flu season. I’m going to take the advice from the Centers for Disease Control and get my flu shot as soon as I can, and I think you should do the same. And forget about colds — with a daughter in daycare I can’t wash my hands often enough … Continue reading

Astrology and the tea business
Imagine my surprise when two leaves founder Richard Rosenfeld calls me into his office to discuss the blog, and mentions Mercury in retrograde. Huh? Please don’t tell me this is a tea company that bases major decisions on astrology. I guess that depends on your definition of “major decisions.” It turns out Richard’s mother was a practicing astrologer for 35 years, doing consultations (or reading, based on the alignment of the planets), and family counseling. I got on the phone with Dee Dee Rosenfeld of Hilton Head, S.C., and here’s what she said about the planet of Mercury being in retrograde: “Anything that can happen, will happen. You hear from people you haven’t heard from in a while, you lose things and find them. It affects travel, communication and electronics. Never put a new program on your computer [when Mercury … Continue reading
