Chai, chai cookies and … Darjeeling?
As the newest member of the two leaves and a bud team, I’m well aware that the fastest way into the hearts of my new coworkers is with baked goods. So when my first day in the office included a guided tasting of chai teas with Richard, it seemed like a no-brainer to go home and bake some chai sugar cookies. Maybe you’re familiar with chai tea, an Assam tea that’s blended with warm, hearty spices like cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. Steep Time – How much is enough?
We get asked all the time, “how long do I steep this?” It seems to be an age-old question and seems to elude many of us who are not native to tea-growing countries. Early in my better tea drinking days, I would return from Sri Lanka with wonderful tea only to find that it just did not taste the same at home – It always was too dense, too strong, over steeped! So finally…http://www.twoleavesandabud.com/n_Steep-time—how-much-is-enough-38.html . Please let us know your steeping experiences and what works and doesn’t work for you. Cheers!

Spring Skiing!
It may seem funny this time of year, but for those of us who love the mountains (montanophiles? is that a word?) late spring is the best time to get up high and ski! This weekend was cold and rainy in Basalt which means cold and snowy(!) at the top of Independence Pass, 30 miles east of here. We hiked and skied 2 peaks on Memorial Day – Geissler Peak and an unnamed one at 13,500 feet. That’s me slogging up the second peak on my skis and skins. It was steep and slow but beautiful once you got there! Don’t forget the sunblock! Yep, I got fried the day before on a really cloudy day so I have big white sunblock blotches but feeling great today. In fact, I am enjoying a cuppa’ our latest crop of Assam tea … Continue reading
